Ratnagiri
It is
a great miracle of nature. There is no particular day or time when the Ganga
appears. At a distance of 3 km. from Rajapur, the Ganga appears on a mountain.
There are in all 14 pools or 'Kundh'. Kashikundh, Varunkundh, Herakundh,
Vedikakundh, Narmadakundh, Saraswatikundh, Godakundh, Yamunakundh, Krishnakundh,
Agnikundh are the different names of the kundhs. They are made from blackstone
and each kundh is 2.25 feet deep.
Ganga comes in great force from
the Kashikundh. The pool water has nice fragrance. People believe that a dip in
this Ganga will free them from all their sins. It appears after a period of 3
years & is there for a period of 2 months.
Dhutpapeshwar
: It is
an ancient temple of Lord 'Shiva' situated in Dhutpapeshwar village near Rajapur.
The beautiful waterfall near the it adds beauty to it during the rainy season.

Mahakali of
Aadivara : This
temple has assumed great importance as a tourist visiting place. It is
beautifully carved and their is sculpture work done having different idols of
Gods & Goddess. Yogeshwari, Shree Mahalaxmi, Shree Mahakali, Shree Maha
Saraswati, Shree Ravalnath are the names of the idols of Gods & Goddess
whose statues are seen here. The Mahakali idol in the temple is made from black
stone & is facing towards south. Devotees of Pune have made a 'Palakhi' from
12 kg silver. According to the information given by villagers the idol of
Mahakali was found in the nearby sea.
How to Reach: From Rajapur at a
distance of 30 km. Bus facility available. From Purnagad to Gaonkhadi by boat
& then Aadivara. Accommodation facility provided by 'Bhatiniwas'.
Kankaditya
: Kankaditya
means Lord 'Surya Narayan' or Sun God. It is the only ancient temple of Sun God
in Ratnagiri in Kasheli village. It is situated on 5 km. long seashore & was
built 800 years ago.
To protect the idols &
statues from the attack of Mughals, they were taken towards the south, from
Dwarka. When the ship carrying the idols reached Kasheli, some of the idols were
kept in the caves. From it one of idol is of Kankaditya. The temple has a
spacious hall which is 80 feet in length & 40 feet in wide.

from 32 km. from Rajapur. Also from Ratnagiri through Pawas.
